This custom pool project in Esplanade at Lakewood Ranch was designed around one main goal — creating a large spa experience that could be used year-round as both a relaxation space and a compact pool. The result is a custom spool-style design that combines the comfort of a spa with the usability of a small swimming pool, making it perfect for everyday enjoyment.

The pool measures 13’ x 8’ with a depth ranging from 3’ to 3.5’, giving it the feel of a plunge pool while still allowing enough space to cool off or entertain. This style of pool is especially popular in Lakewood Ranch communities where homeowners want a luxury outdoor space without the footprint of a full-size pool.

The deck and coping were built using Artistic Pavers GraniteLock , with Sterling Gray 16×16 pavers for the decking and Arctic White 16×16 bullnose coping for a clean, modern contrast. The feature wall is finished with matching GraniteLock coping, including two-sided bullnose corners, giving the structure a finished architectural look that ties into the home’s design.

A raised feature wall with a sheer descent waterfall creates the focal point of the backyard. The wall and waterline are finished with LuvTile glass tile (MEZ-0102) , adding texture, reflection, and movement to the design. The interior finish is a Tahoe Blue mini pebble , selected for its durability and rich water color.

This custom spa / plunge pool is powered by a full Jandy equipment system , including a FloPro 1.85 HP variable speed pump, CS150 cartridge filter, TruClear salt system, iAquaLink automation, JXiQ 260,000 BTU natural gas heater, RGBW nicheless color LED lighting, and a spa blower for added hydrotherapy performance.

A bronze aluminum screen enclosure with a mansard roof was installed to match the architectural style required in Esplanade at Lakewood Ranch while providing shade, durability, and year-round usability.

To meet HOA requirements, the project also included a French drain system for yard drainage and decorative fencing around the equipment area to keep the equipment hidden from the street and neighboring homes while maintaining a clean finished appearance.

This project is a great example of how a smaller pool can still deliver a luxury outdoor living experience when the design, materials, and construction are done right.
